Fun at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire

This weekend was my first book signing out of my home state of Pennsylvania, and I have to say, the Connecticut Renaissance Faire was a great place to start. Everyone was so encouraging and kind. I met at least four fellow authors and gained some new readers. I even had one reader buy a book and come back to tell me she started reading it… while she was still at the fair!

My mom came with me, and this was her first Renaissance Faire. Watching her reactions to everything was a blast. She especially enjoyed meeting the Princess! I’ll tell you what…I have done the whole Elizabethan hoop skirt (and all the many layers that go with it) in the past when it was far cooler out. Everyone walking around in period attire gets major bonus points for wearing all that in the heat. Whew!

Connecticut also had two female jousters. Eleanor would be proud! They looked like they were kicking butt, too. I wish I took more pictures.

The food was also amazing. I must say that we partook of the classic Renn Faire turkey leg. Delicious, though it always amuses me. Did you know that medieval and renaissance era people did not eat turkey? The species is native to the Americas, which the Europeans had yet to discover.

Thank you to everyone who came to chat with me and buy my book. It was a true pleasure!
